About the vote

01A global audience

Votes came from 1,509 cities across 104 countries, and the trailers drew more than 4.7 million views on YouTube.

02Two trailers at a time

Two random trailers appear side by side. You watch, pick the future you prefer, and a new pair follows. Scoring 65 three-minute trailers is a heavy lift. Choosing between two takes seconds, and people answer honestly.

Each choice updates the ratings with an Elo system, the method built to rank chess players. Beating a highly rated trailer counts for more than beating a low one.

03Quality, not followers

There was no way to vote for a single trailer. A film's rating moved only through head-to-head matchups, rising when voters chose it over the one beside it and falling when they didn't. Across hundreds of thousands of choices, the ranking reflects what people preferred, not who brought the biggest crowd.

04Protecting the vote

With prize money on the line, people will try to game it. Our crowdvoting partner, SIV.org, weighed more than a dozen signals to separate genuine preferences from spam and coordinated boosting.

The team also worked blind. They saw each trailer only by an animal nickname, so every anti-fraud rule was locked in before anyone knew which films were rising.

Thank you

To everyone who voted and shared, and to every filmmaker who put a vision of the future into the world. Voting is closed. Every top-five trailer is above.
